How our Santa Sacks were born
:: In 1998, after years of squishing gifts into narrow stockings, I ditched our stockings for new, so-easy-to-stuff โSanta Sacksโ instead. Gone were the days of choosing gifts based on size alone! Best decision ever! We hung the sacks on our fireplace – just like stockings – and when the boys woke up on Christmas morning, they found full sacks sitting on the fireplace hearth, stuffed with presents of all different shapes and SIZES. Love it! Of course, if you prefer to avoid the Santa reference, simply reinvent the name and refer to them as something else – like Christmas Bags or Cinch Sacks. ๐
Over the years, our three original sacks turned into fourteen, mix-n-match bags of beauty!

Multiplying the tradition
Not only are Santa Sacks a tradition at Grandpa and Grandma’s, but each of our adult kids have sets at their own homes as well. Two freshly-made Santa Sacks make the perfect wedding shower gift and sacks for new grandbabies make the perfect baby shower gifts!

Make your own!
These sacks are easy to make, even with basic sewing skills, and they’re a great way to spice up your mantel for Christmas! Check out this video for an overview and then download the free printable for step-by-step directions. Happy sewing and MERRY CHRISTMAS!
