It’s that time of year again, and I’m so excited! One of my favorite things in the world is letting our grandkids loose in the cutting garden. It’s magic. And it brings so much joy! Make no mistake, the joy is never born of a perfect garden. Far from it, in fact. Some years are more flop than fabulous, but joy still comes in the bright flowers and sweet smiles of God’s creation. If you’ve never tried a cutting garden, this is your year!
So many Biblical truths are ambiguous for little minds, but planting a seed, watching it grow, and seeing a beautiful bloom unfold at the top of tall stems is a concrete representation of God’s glory that even the smallest mind can grasp.
Scripture says that there is more splendor in the wildflowers than in the richest king (Luke 12:27). It says that God’s temple was decorated with carvings of flower blossoms (1 Kings 6:18). And it says when flowers appear on the earth, the season of singing has come (Song of Solomon 2:11-12). Flowers are a perfect celebration of God’s creativity and his power to breathe life into something that seems utterly lifeless.
Mother’s Day is right around the corner, which means it’s just about time to plant some seeds. By June, our raised beds that grandpa built along the fence in our backyard will be overflowing with blue, yellow, pink, red, white, and orange. And I can hardly wait!

Because…why do the same thing every year! Although, I accidentally bought perennial Babys Breath, so if all goes well, I suppose that will be back next year. Ooops! 😉
